Global Summits

THE SUMMITS: HEARTBEAT OF THE MOVEMENT

GAWGi’s annual global summits are more than conferences. They are the convening engine of an international movement – bringing together the world’s most influential leaders, thinkers, innovators, and advocates to accelerate collective action on water security.

Who Attends:

NEW DELHI SUMMIT

Theme: Innovation, Resilience, and the Voice of the Global South

India is at the epicentre of the global water crisis – 600 million people live under high water stress, per-capita water availability has declined 12% since 2015, and groundwater is depleting 25% faster than natural recharge. India also loses an estimated 200,000 lives annually to water contamination.

And yet India is also a powerhouse of AWG innovation. Companies like Maithri Aquatech – with their Meghdoot AWG systems – are demonstrating that indigenous technology can be built and deployed at scale. Government programmes like the USD 60 billion Jal Jeevan Mission are beginning to integrate AWG into rural water access frameworks.

The New Delhi Summit is the Global South’s foremost platform for showcasing emerging-market AWG innovation, engaging government leadership from South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America, addressing financing and policy challenges in lower-income nations, and building south-south partnerships across water-stressed regions.

WASHINGTON DC SUMMIT

Theme: Global Leadership, Policy, and Investment

Washington DC is home to the world’s most influential policy institutions, multilateral bodies, and financial networks – where global agendas are shaped, international frameworks are negotiated, and large-scale investment decisions are made.

The DC Summit is the movement’s foremost platform for engaging the US government and federal agencies on AWG policy; convening the World Bank, IMF, and UN agencies to integrate AWG into international water and climate finance; attracting institutional investors and the broader capital community; and announcing major new commitments, partnerships, and funding initiatives.
